Boxing for Atari 2600 belongs to the first group of four games released by a new company - Activision. The game was released in July 1980.
Boxing is quite simple game, in which you can become a boxing champion.
More specifically - in one round, you can measure your boxing skills with your companion (player vs. player), or with computer (player vs. the computer program). This option can be switched by pressing the SELECT button. Your fight begins by pressing the START button.
In Boxing, you see your character from above, moving in a square ring. Each round lasts for ninety seconds, during which you try to hit your opponent more times than he hits you. The player with higher hit score wins. You use a joystick to move your character to all directions and a button to punch. Your character automatically chooses left or right hand for boxing. To spice things up a little, the enemy player is being thrown to a side with each received hit. Sometimes, you can experience an effective series of hits which will push forward your opponent in front of you.
This game must have been an amazing fun in 1980's. Young kids challenged each other in the ring without actual blood being shed. Everybody could become a boxing champion thanks to the Boxing game.
